AC/R Tech II
(Must have refrigeration experience)


Will possess 2-5+ years of knowledge, skills, and abilities, with proper supervision, to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, install, and repair HVACR equipment, components, and fixtures, with chiller experience on board Navy vessels, on job sites, and in the workshop.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain and service HVACR equipment, components, and systems by inspecting, testing, repairing, and replacing faulty HVACR systems, components, and circuits.
  • Adjust system controls and settings recommended by the manufacturer to balance system.
  • Confer with customer to assess issues and establish work scheduling/progress.
  • Possess a basic level of knowledge and understanding of HVACR theory and principles, Navy specifications and standards, properties of materials, and principles of operation of HVACR equipment and its components.
  • Display a basic level of knowledge of different HVACR systems and the requirements for trouble shooting and testing of 24-volt DC, 110-volt AC thru 440-volt AC.
  • Assemble, position, and mount HVACR equipment, following blueprints and manufacturers specifications and to ensure conformance to job requirements and standards or codes.
  • Read and work from wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions from supervisors covering emergency and scheduled repairs, installation, and HVACR PM/inspection work to be performed.
  • Practice safe, regulatory handling of various refrigerants used for HVACR equipment.
  • Ability to utilize various equipment technical manuals and test procedures for HVACR equipment testing.
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as refrigeration gages, recovery machines, vacuum pumps, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, to include volt-ohm meters, ammeters, or test lamps.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as positioning HVACR equipment, installing ductwork, working at heights, and moving or lifting heavy objects.
  • Performs all duties as deemed necessary by Project Manager, supervisor/foreman.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED required, and minimum 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience in field.
  • Tech school/Trade school certification preferred, but not required.
  • EPA Universal Certification (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F).
