Position Overview:
As a Crane Walker, you will assist mechanics in performing various production tasks, including operating small mechanical and hand tools. You will work in a shipyard environment, supporting hot work operations and ensuring a safe work area. The ideal candidate will have experience with basic cutting, drilling, and grinding operations, and be able to work efficiently in a high-energy, safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be working in a shipyard environment that can include extreme temperatures, high humidity, low lighting, and noisy conditions. Depending on the specific task, you may be required to work in confined spaces, at heights above 12 feet, or on uneven surfaces. The work environment can vary from office-like conditions to hot, smoky, or cold conditions inside vessels. PPE is mandatory, and safety is always the priority.

Position Overview:
As a Crane Walker, you will assist mechanics in performing various production tasks, including operating small mechanical and hand tools. You will work in a shipyard environment, supporting hot work operations and ensuring a safe work area. The ideal candidate will have experience with basic cutting, drilling, and grinding operations, and be able to work efficiently in a high-energy, safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrive at the designated work site at the assigned time and work shifts as directed.
- Support mechanics with basic cutting, drilling, and grinding operations as needed.
- Transport materials and tools to the worksite, ensuring safe handling of equipment and supplies.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work area at all times, especially at the end of the shift.
- Perform Fire Watch duties when assigned, ensuring fire safety and adhering to fire watch protocols.
- Warn others of danger or the need to evacuate using verbal or prearranged communication methods.
- Ensure the worksite is free of combustible materials before hot work begins.
- Adhere to OSHA standards and BAE best safety practices.
- Comply with the company’s Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, steel-toe shoes, and safety harnesses, as required.
- Ability to comprehend basic instructions and general correspondence.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally to warn others of fire or other dangers.
- Experience using small power tools and hand tools in a production environment.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including respirators and other safety gear.
- Must have the skills and certification required for Fire Watch duties.
- Must be physically and medically capable of wearing all required PPE and performing the physical demands of the job.
- Ability to follow instructions, stay focused, and work independently when required.
- Experience working in a shipyard or industrial setting is a plus.

- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs occasionally (up to 33% of the day).
- Lift, push, and pull up to 20–30 lbs frequently (34-66% of the day).
- Perform prolonged standing (2-3 hours), bending, squatting, crawling, and kneeling.
- Climb safely on stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and ramps.
- Work in confined spaces for extended periods (33-66% of the day).
- Ability to work at heights above 12 feet on scaffolding or manlifts.
- Good handgrip and coordination to carry and operate tools and equipment.
