NSC Staffing is currently seeking skilled General and Junior Mechanics for exciting opportunities in the repair and maintenance of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and Shipboard Mobile Support Equipment (SMSE). If you have the required expertise and experience, we want to hear from you!

Position Overview:

As a General Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling diesel and electrical equipment, including major assemblies and systems. Your role will require strong analytical and problem-solving skills as you work from technical manuals to ensure that all repairs are completed to the highest standards. As a Junior Mechanic, you will assist in the repair and maintenance processes under the guidance of experienced mechanics, contributing to the efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

General Mechanic:

• Perform comprehensive mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on MHE and SMSE.
• Overhaul major assemblies, including powertrain differentials, transaxles, and electronic fuel injection systems.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics to execute repairs accurately.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify and resolve issues without unnecessary parts replacement.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with QA inspectors to ensure all repairs are compliant with standards and guidelines.

Junior Mechanic:

• Support General Mechanics in the repair and maintenance of diesel engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
• Work under supervision to complete tasks and projects, ensuring compliance with labor hour standards.
• Engage in hands-on training and skill development in various repair techniques.
• Maintain safety protocols and cleanliness in work areas, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.

Qualifications & Experience:

General Mechanic:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the repair and overhaul of shipboard MHE and SMSE.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as engine analyzers, voltmeters, and gauges.
• Strong understanding of technical manuals and the ability to interpret complex schematics.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Junior Mechanic:

• Minimum of 2 years of work-related experience, with at least one non-expired ASE certification.
• Familiarity with diesel engine repair, suspension systems, and electrical maintenance techniques.
• Ability to work effectively under supervision while developing independent problem-solving skills.
• Must communicate clearly in English and follow verbal and written instructions.

Work Environment:

You will work in a dynamic marine environment, including shipyards and aboard vessels, where attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount. This role requires collaboration with a skilled team to ensure the efficient operation of all equipment.
