Position Overview:
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment using diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturers’ specifications. This role involves diagnosing problems with equipment and making necessary repairs on various machinery such as air compressors, fire pumps, metal shears, and drill presses. The ideal candidate will have experience working with production equipment and power tools and some knowledge of building maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Equipment Maintenance: Repair and maintain machinery, including air compressors, fire pumps, metal shears, band saws, drill presses, and other production equipment.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical issues and make repairs to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
• Tool Operation: Utilize measuring instruments such as rules, calipers, and micrometers, and operate power tools like lathes, grinders, and band saws to repair equipment.
• Building Maintenance: Perform maintenance and repairs on facilities, including boilers, and assist with welding and burning when necessary.
• Temporary Service: Experience with temporary service aboard navy vessels is a plus.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Experience: Previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic is preferred.
• Skills: Experience with machinery repairs, power tools, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other mechanical tools.
• Mechanical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Building Maintenance: Experience in facility and building maintenance, including boilers and other systems.
• Clearance: No clearance required.
• Shift Availability: Flexibility to work a shift from 0600 – 1445 with potential for a night shift.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, and lifting to 50 lbs. on occasion.
• Ability to work in various physical conditions, including standing for extended periods and using hand tools and machinery.
• PPE: Must be able to wear and utilize personal protective equipment, including safety goggles, gloves, steel-toed boots, etc.
Work Environment:
This position will be in a fast-paced facilities environment with exposure to mechanical parts, machinery, and various work conditions. The role may involve working in confined spaces, heights, or areas with fluctuating temperatures.
