Outside Machinist JRM 1-3
REPORTS TO: Foreman, Supervisor and Department Head
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The outside Machinist Journeyman III are assigned hands on responsibilities for the removal, installation and testing of main and auxiliary shipboard equipment including but not limited to MRG’s pumps, hydraulics, valves, bearings, doors, hatches, laundry washers and dryers, scullery equipment, windows etc. Must be able to work in various stages of repair and modernization of naval ships. May be required to assist Outside Machinist Helper as necessary. Performs additional related tasks as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Outside Machinist Journeyman must be able to meet and successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following physical demands are representative of the position.
The position is active and requires extensive standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching. Along with such movements, employee is required to lift parts/machinery of up to 50 pounds. Additional demands are listed below:
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Outside Machinist Journeyman III position has little supervisory responsibilities.
POSITION TYPE / HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday- Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (swing shifts dependent on workload). Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
WORK AUTHORIZATION CLEARANCE
For E-verify and contract security purposes (including ship access lists), all employees MUST present a valid export document. Acceptable documents are U.S. Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, Passport, Passport Card and Permanent Resident Card.

- Able to use hand and power tools.
- Reads and understand job specifications.
- Ability to read precision instruments.
- General knowledge of shipboard layout.
- Removal and installation of shipboard equipment.
- Perform applicable testing.
- Must adhere to a promote ALL company safety policies. Wear all required PPE when in Production areas and promote a clean and safe work environment.
- Ensure that employees assigned with Firewatch duties are in place and ready prior to begin hot work
- Fill out Job JSA forms.

- Able to climb ladders and work off scaffolding.
- Able to lift, carry, and or push up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift (including overtime)
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- Must have minimum 7 years shipboard machinist experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and tech manuals.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Employee must be able to evaluate the use of various resources and make knowledgeable. decisions regarding safety and company standards and policies.
- Able to read precision instruments.
- Able to conduct callouts.
- Able to perform equipment alignments.

- Must have basic math skills.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of ship repair experience and qualifications.
- Must be able to speak and understand Basic English
