NSC Staffing is hiring Pump and Valve Mechanics to support marine and industrial repair operations. This position involves overhaul, testing, and repair of various pumps and valves aboard vessels and within shipyard facilities. We are hiring for multiple Journeyperson levels based on experience and tool proficiency.

We are seeking both skilled and entry-level pump mechanics capable of working in physically demanding environments, with the ability to perform precision measurements, interpret technical drawings, and contribute to high-quality repair projects.

Key Responsibilities:
? Overhaul, test, and repair the following equipment with varying levels of supervision based on Journeyperson classification:
• Close coupled pumps
• Reciprocating pumps
• Valve pumps
• Rotary pumps
• Gear pumps
• Circulating pumps
• Vacuum pumps


General Duties:
• Identify parts, track orders, and provide dimensional data for Corrective Feedback Reports (CFRs).
• Furnish sizes, clearances, and repair recommendations to supervisors.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
• Utilize precision measuring tools such as calipers, indicators, and micrometers (varies by classification).
• Set up jobs in compliance with specifications and collaborate with other shops or teams.
• Operate conventional and special-purpose machines to fabricate and assemble pump components.
• Ensure work specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations are consistently met.
• Maintain job site cleanliness and comply with all safety requirements, including proper PPE usage.
• Support shop operations, including assisting with machining and assembly tasks as required.
• Must comply with WAF (Work Authorization Form) procedures and other safety regulations.

Journeyperson Classifications:
Journeyperson 1:
• Ability to work on listed equipment with close supervision.
• Basic familiarity with tools and shipyard operations.


Journeyperson 2:
• Ability to work on listed equipment with supervision.
• Proficient with pump-specific tools and reading dial indicators and other precision instruments.


Journeyperson 3:
• Ability to work on listed equipment with minimal supervision.
• Possession of a full set of pump-specific tools, including calipers, indicators, and micrometers.
• Ability to furnish clearances, sizes, and recommend repairs independently.
• Strong understanding of technical manuals and blueprints.


Journeyperson 4 (Inside Machinist Pumps J4):
• Ability to lead jobs from start to finish with no supervision.
• Oversee small groups of personnel, plan jobs, and manage processes in alignment with specifications and safety standards.
• Extensive experience working on pumps and related equipment.
• Ability to submit CFRs with dimensional information and track parts orders.

Qualifications:
? High school diploma or equivalent required.
? Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a shipyard environment preferred (for Journeyperson 3 and higher).
? Must meet relevant Journeyperson classification requirements for tools, supervision, and technical ability.
? Proficient with OSHA and NAVSEA Standard Items.
? Must be able to read technical manuals and blueprints.
? Ability to access Navy installations and other shipyards.
? Reliable transportation required.
? Ability to work aboard vessels, climb ladders, and operate in confined spaces.
? Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and up to 30% travel as required.

Physical Requirements:
• Frequent lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, pulling, crouching, kneeling, and crawling.
• Ability to access all areas of vessels, shipyards, and other worksites.
• Work may require extended periods of standing and walking (up to 75% of the shift).
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Visual acuity required for operating machines, precision measurement, and mechanical tasks.
• Work environment includes exposure to weather conditions, confined spaces, heights, vibrations, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
