NSC Staffing is currently seeking a Storeroom Clerk for an exciting opportunity in a dynamic work environment. Position Overview:
As a Storeroom Clerk, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring accurate inventory records, and complying with safety regulations. You will also advocate for Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) and contribute to the smooth operation of the storeroom. Your role is crucial in ensuring tools and equipment are in good working condition and available when needed, all while adhering to safety protocols and OSHA standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tool and Equipment Management: Issue tools and equipment to workers, keep detailed records of tools and equipment issued and returned, and locate misplaced tools and equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain a perpetual inventory of tools and equipment, prepare periodic inventories, and requisition stock to replenish supplies.
  • Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect, measure, and maintain tools and equipment, reporting any defects or wear to supervisors. Perform necessary repairs and lubrications to ensure proper functioning.
  • Delivery and Distribution: Deliver tools and equipment to workers, ensuring tools are marked and identified before being returned to storage.
  • Tool Setup and Operation: Set up and operate machines to grind form tools, taps, drills, and holders as required. Ensure tools are properly sharpened and in working condition.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow company safety rules and OSHA standards at all times, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed under OSHA guidelines.
  • Recordkeeping: Check tools in and out using the tool room computer system and keep accurate logs of all transactions.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth operations and to meet the needs of the workers requiring tools and equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED required. One to three months of related experience or training in a similar environment preferred.
  • Skills: Computer literate and highly detail-oriented, with tool repair experience preferred.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write basic correspondence and respond to inquiries from coworkers, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide two-digit numbers and perform calculations using units of weight, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Physical Capabilities: Must be able to lift and move up to 75 lbs. Must be capable of standing for long periods, walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in various conditions, including confined spaces aboard vessels.
Work Environment:
The position requires work in various environments, including shipyards, piers, docks, and other NSC Staffing facilities. You will be exposed to wet and humid conditions, outdoor weather, extreme cold, and heat. The work environment is often loud, and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory to mitigate risks associated with these conditions.
