NSC Skilled Trades is seeking experienced Manager of Instrument & Electrical Maintenance for a project in Cochise, AZ.

PAY: $8988.75 to $11,235.92 - (Annual Salary - $107,865 - $134,831.04)
PER-DIEM: No
HOURS: 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday or (4 - 10hr shifts)

SCOPE: 
Manage, supervise and train Instrument Technicians and Plant Electricians to perform scheduled, preventative maintenance and capital improvements in a safe and productive manner while ensuring reliability and availability for peak megawatt production at a competitive cost. Apache Generating Station has seven (7) generating units consisting of coal, gas, combined cycle, coal blending facility and ash handling equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: ? Working knowledge of Plant operations and equipment. ? Working knowledge of equipment repair best practices. ? Working knowledge of the planning process including organizing, scheduling, directing and controlling a continued safe and economical maintenance program. ? Six years previous experience in high-pressure steam production, generation maintenance, fuel and ash handling equipment and maintenance of plant emission equipment. ? Two years supervisory experience. ? Must have good written and verbal skills to be able to work within a multifaceted team, which would include coaching several different crafts.

ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: ? Annually prepare and manage an Instrument and Electrical maintenance budget of 1 million dollars. ? Ensure that all work is accomplished within regulatory requirements. ? Direct personnel so that skills are applied to proper maintenance activities. ? Conduct crew tailgate and safety meetings. ? Manage and supervise Instrument Technicians and Plant Electricians (including foreman positons). ? In the absence of the Manager of Mechanical Maintenance, assist with the management and supervision of the working foreman and other maintenance crafts including welders, machinists, mechanics and insulators. ? Ensure that technical training is made available and that all are proficient in the areas relating to their jobs. ? Review warehouse inventory. ? Ensure consistent and fair administration of the bargaining unit contract and keep personnel aware of company policies and procedures. ? Manage changes and evidence related to NERC procedures and controls for delegated requirements ? Manage changes and evidence related to NERC RSAWs including the narrative and evidence of the compliance for delegated requirements.
Perform primary interviewee functions related to NERC compliance audits for delegated requirements


PRINCIPAL CHALLENGES: ? Typical – Manage and supervise the instrument and electrical maintenance of the Turbine, Boiler, Scrubber, Coal and Ash handling equipment to stay in compliance with EPA regulations. ? Typical – Be involved in the planning, purchasing and installation of new plant equipment. ? Typical – Training Instrument and Electrical maintenance personnel. ? Typical – Coordination with contractors. ? Complex – Managing and supervising unit overhauls and startups related to electrical and instrumentation. ? Complex – Maintaining the planning processes and procedures to keep the Instrument and Electrical departments efficient. ? Complex – Coaching several maintenance teams and coordinating their activity.

FUNCTIONAL GUIDANCE: ? Executive Director of Power Production – As required. ? Plant Engineering Group – Plant equipment, capital projects, modifications and performance. ? Managers of Operations – Plant equipment, equipment outage scheduling. ? Manager of Planning and Support – Plant equipment repair scheduling and coordination between crafts on repairs. ? Generation Engineering Group – Plant equipment, design, capital projects, plant upgrades. ? Purchasing Department – Parts availability, purchase orders, delivery dates. ? Environmental Department – Hazard products, review, provide guidance and information to maintenance personnel. ? Safety Department – Safety training and procedures, product hazard reviews. ? Warehouse – Parts availability, purchase requests and inventory. ? Human Resources – New employee recruiting and interviews. Temporary employee procurement, employee training, contract administration.

REVIEW AND APPROVALS: Recommend, advise and counsel on: Decisions that I make: ? Typical decisions would involve job safety, how to do the maintenance tasks efficiently. ? Scheduling of work and matching the maintenance skills to the tasks. ? Approval of new shop equipment and hand tools. ? Vacation coordination and approvals, scheduling of training for the different crafts. Decision that I refer to others for guidance: ? Refer to Human Resources on decisions regarding interpretation of company policies and procedures also contract administration. ? Make recommendations for disciplinary actions for maintenance personnel. Serve on interview committee’s and make recommendations for hiring when increasing staff in the department. ? Make recommendations for disciplinary actions for Instrument and Electrical personnel.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS: ? Maintain safe working conditions and ensure adherence to all safety procedures and environmental policies and regulations. ? Review inventory requirements needed to support maintenance activities. ? Meet budget guidelines. ? Plant equipment reliability and availability and performance. ? Manage and supervise an effective maintenance program. ? Ensure all maintenance work orders and time sheets are completed and turned in to proper areas. ? Manage and supervise professionally and work in harmony with all other company personnel
